S.131. TMC supports the concept of indexing Montgomery GI Bill benefits to the average cost of a four-year post-secondary education or training program for a commuter student. GI Bill benefits now provide only about half the cost of a public college education and this bill would enable the GI Bill to catch up and keep up with educational costs at the average public college or university.

This letter recommends reducing the age-62 SBP offset, which occurs when the annuity drops from 55% of retired pay to 35% at age 62.
